Join The Marian Consort and Players as they explore music by two of the Baroque’s most celebrated composers in the magnificent acoustic of St Peter’s College Chapel.

Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s strikingly beautiful setting of the Requiem mass, the Messe des Morts à quatre voix, is juxtaposed with the contrapuntal rigour and inventive genius of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Motets for double choir in a programme which examines the timeless themes of life and death in music.

A pre-concert talk will be given at 6.30 pm by Professor Edward Higginbottom, renowned specialist both as scholar and performer of Baroque music.

‘Tonal purity, clear diction and intelligent phrasing combined to produce a performance of exceptional musicality and sincerity, with the voices blending with natural ease’

Oxford Times

‘Singing with a rich yet lucid tone and extraordinary blend, The Marian Consort...appear to have an innate sense of each other's voices as they melt perfectly together, capturing all the shades and nuances of the music.’

Glasgow Herald

‘In short, if you ever get a chance to hear this group perform anything, anywhere, grab it.’
